Phelps County is filled with holiday cheer this season, offering families and visitors a wide variety of magical ways to celebrate. From dazzling light displays to community traditions, here are 10 ways to make the most of the holidays in Phelps County.

See What’s New at McInturf’s Light Display
Brad and Kathy McInturf’s home at 110 Nobes in Holdrege shines with over 80,000 lights and scenes featuring gingerbread houses, snowmen, Santa, and a nativity. This long-standing tradition, dating back to the 1970s, will be lit nightly from just before Thanksgiving through the second week of January. -
Enjoy Christmas Lights with the Let It Glow Competition
The Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce’s Let It Glow competition invites homeowners and businesses to compete for the best light display. View the map and vote on the Discover 37 app starting November 30 through December 31. -
Walk Through Two Winter Wonderlands

The YMCA lawn will transform into a magical Winter Wonderland with giant inflatable snowmen, reindeer, and more, open from December 1-31.

The Chamber’s Enchanted Winterland at the Phelps County Courthouse will debut on December 14 with a lighting ceremony and will feature dazzling lights, selfie stations, and inflatables, running through December 31.

Experience a Horse-Drawn Wagon Ride
Celebrate the season at Christmas on Commercial in Loomis on December 4 from 5-7 p.m., featuring horse-drawn wagon rides, photos with Santa, local treats, and festive activities. -
Watch Free Holiday Movies
Enjoy festive classics on the big screen at the Holdrege Sun Theater, sponsored by local businesses. The lineup includes Polar Express, Elf, Christmas Vacation, and more, with showings from December 7-23. -
Be Inspired at the Christmas Holiday Home Tour
The Phelps Memorial Service League’s Christmas Tour of Homes fundraiser takes place on December 8 from 1-4 p.m. Tour beautifully decorated homes filled with holiday spirit while supporting a great cause. Tickets are $20. -
Meet Live Reindeer at Winter Fest
Holdrege Winter Fest on December 14 features live reindeer at the Enchanted Winterland Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Parade of Lights at 7 p.m. Additional activities include Santa photos, a coloring contest, the Santa Sleigh 5K, and the Jingle Mingle with downtown open houses. -

Hop aboard the YMCA’s Polar Express (school bus) to tour Holdrege’s Christmas lights while listening to the Polar Express story. Warm up with hot cocoa and fire pits afterward. Rides run December 21-22 at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. Tickets required.
