About Us
When you receive insurance options with me, I will educate you on every quote to make sure you understand what you are getting. I do not only protect your home and autos, but I can also protect your loved ones when you are gone.
We were founded in 1946 as the insurance subsidiary of the Missouri Farmers Association (MFA). The name changed in 1981, from MFA Mutual Insurance Company to Shelter Insurance Companies, reflecting MFA's popular slogan: "MFA is your Shield of Shelter". Shelter Insurance has a strong track record of customer satisfaction, receiving the J.D. Power award for Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Auto Insurers in the Central Region for seven of the last eight years (as of 2025). We are located in 15 States, all being in the Mid-west.
