Midsummer | Swedish Days Kick-Off
The Mayor’s Proclamation and Prayer Kickoff officially opens the Midsummer Festival (a Swedish Days Tradition). This event includes the Mayor’s formal proclamation declaring the celebration underway and a time of prayer led by New Life Church to begin the weekend.
Families can also enjoy inflatables, games with the Holdrege Optimist Club and the Don Sjogren YMCA, free hotdogs provided by New Life Church, and floats provided by the Phelps County Community Foundation.
This year, we are excited to welcome the Lindsborg Folkdanslag Swedish Dance Group for a performance, as well as Sherri Ellsworth leading Traditional Midsummer Pole Frog Dances!
It is a meaningful way to mark the start of one of Holdrege’s most treasured traditions.
